The utility says demand for electricity peaked to 262 MW in 2015. A few of that energy comes from wind energy generated on the Island, but when that's not out there Maritime Electric at the moment has to fill in with greater-priced energy from its gasoline-fired generators. The brand new cables may also permit for extra export of wind vitality from the Island.
